Conflict Links

I worked on the research project, 'The Economic and Social Costs of Conflict,' for my MSc dissertation and as a research assistant with Frances Stewart in 1995-6 at Queen Elizabeth House, Oxford University. The following paper of ours was described as "ground breaking" by Dr. Peter Lock:

My MSc thesis was a cross-country statistical analysis into the effects of war on developing countries. The research looked at countries that have experienced severe casualties due to conflict in the period 1970-1990, with more detailed analysis of Sub-Saharan Africa. The three-gap model was used as a theoretical framework to analyse the expected effects of war, and these predictions were tested empirically. The relationship between low income and war was examined. I presented my thesis at the World Congress on Violence and Human Coexistence, August 17-21 1997, University College Dublin
